The Autumn Tag

The Autumn Tag!

Taken in my front yard last fall.
  1. Favourite thing about it? The fashion, most definitely. I love the layered look, the more layers the better!
  2. Favourite drink? I guess just plain old hot chocolate, I am not typically a warm drink type of person.
  3. Favourite scent/candle? Leaves from Bath and Body works. This scent to me screams fall. It doesn't smell like actual leaves, but more like cinnamon, and pumpkin and the typical "fall" spices.
  4. Best lipstick? Mac's Marilyn Monroe lipstick in Charmed, I'm sure. This is the most perfect red. It is a beautiful deep, matte red and it looks good on every skin tone.
  5. Go to moisturizer? I use Nivea soft. I have used it for years and it is the only moisturizer I keep going back to. It is light, but very moisturizing and does not leave your face feeling or looking greasy. I would definitely recommend it, plus it is from the drugstore!
  6. Go to colors for the eyes? I like a light shimmery champagne all year long. I am not usually an eye shadow girl, I feel like it just looks like I am wearing too much makeup. But when I do, my favourite colour to wear is from the Urban Decay Naked palette and it is the colour sin.
  7. Favorite music or band/singer to listen to? I don't really have a certain band or artist I listen to every fall. But when I hear either Mumford and Sons Babel album, or Taylor Swift's Red album, they both remind me of last fall.
  8. Favorite outfit to wear (i.e. boots and scarf combo)? A typical fall outfit for me is jeans, ankle booties, a sweater and some sort of jacket (either leather or denim). I wear this outfit almost every day (oops, boring!).
  9. Autumn treat? I am in the market for a new pair of tall leather boots. Either that or some more ankle booties, a girl can never have too many!
  10. Favorite place to be? Walking through the park, and crunching through all of the leaves! Or the pumpkin patch. Fall just brings on so many fun activities, I love it.

Outfit of the Day(s)

This is a little bit of a different spin on a classic outfit of the day post, but these are how I usually share my outfits for my Instagram

Pictured below is my outfit from class today. It is still fairly warm where I live but I layered a jacket to keep warm in the morning. Starting from toes up; shoes Urban Outfitters, shorts are from Aritzia last season, top is H&M from a few years back, and denim jacket is by Gap. This look is still very summery, but the booties add a little taste of fall.

Below is a look I wore to a baby shower the other day for one of my friends from work. I am dying over this clutch from Gap. It is the perfect fall clutch. It reminds me of the American Apparel clutches but I like the pop of leopard rather than just a plain neutral beige. Shoes are from Forever 21 in the spring. I wore them all summer and got so many compliments, they look far more expensive than I paid for them. Jeans are just Gap's classic legging jean, and they are super comfortable!

I hope you liked my little spin on the outfit of the day post. Comment your favourite pieces you have been wearing currently.

Review: Loreal The Magic Top Coat

My most recent post was a nail of the day, featuring the Loreal the Magic Top Coat in Matte. When I posted that, I was using the top coat for the first time. At first it was great, my nails looked fantastic and we very matte.

However, as the days passed, the matte coat seemed to be rubbing off. My nails were no longer a matte finish, they looked as if I had used a regular shiny top coat. I guess considering this product is from the drugstore I shouldn't have had my hopes set too high. I am a little disappointed in this product, because I had been looking for a cheaper alternative to the high end matte top coats.

I'm not sure if I will purchase a different brand in the future or just use this one if I am looking for a matte nail for a specific outfit. Overall I would give this product a 2.5/5. I really had high hopes and was pretty disappointed when it did not work out the way I had hoped.

Let me know if you have tried this top coat and how it worked out for you, or if you have tried any other matte top coats that are worth trying.

Mani Monday

Essie: Licorice

Today's mani monday is perfect for fall. I've been seeing matte nails all over magazines for the past year and finally decided to try them out. I started out with my favourite black polish by Essie (also my favourite brand) and finished with a matte top coat. I think I will be wearing this look a lot in the months to come. These can both be picked up from the drugstore and are reasonably priced, considering some of the matte top coats I've seen cost an arm and a leg.

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Mani Monday. The matte top coat adds a little something to an otherwise typical look.

Shoe Review: Sam Edelman Petty Boot

Sam Edelman Petty Boot

I had been in the market for a pair of ankle booties at the beginning of summer, and while browsing Urban Outfitters (http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/index.jsp) I kept coming back to these ones. I have another pair of Sam Edelman's boots, and I absolutely love them. I thought this colour would be perfect for the summer, because I could style them in many different ways. These booties do fit true to size, although they are quite narrow in the toe (if you are familiar with Sam Edelman, many of the shoes are) and after reading many reviews on Urban Outfitters I decided these were the ones for me. I couldn't be happier with them. They are a beautiful sandy taupe colour in a nice suede material and match with everything in my wardrobe. This summer I paired them with sundresses, shorts and cropped pants. I will continue to wear them into the fall and I am looking at purchasing them in black leather. They wear very well, I think the more scuffed up and rugged they become the better. They have a small 2" heal, which is perfect for everyday wear. I am so glad I ordered these, and I can't wait to own them in black leather. The colour is called Taupe and they are retailed for $130.00 US on Urban Outfitters (well worth every penny).

If you are in the market for a little bootie this fall I would definitely recommend the Sam Edelman Petty Boot. It comes in an array of colours in the suede material and also comes in leather. I will continue to wear these for seasons and years to come.
